We moved in to our new place on Thursday and we are so thrilled to be here! The location is great, very centrally located and boasts fabulous views of the harbor, stadium, Waterfront, and the Atlantic. Our only complaint (if you can even call it that) is the art. It’s not quite our taste, as I would never put a larger than life nude so close to the toaster oven.

Now that we no longer feel the need to escape our residence, we spent most of the weekend enjoying our home. Our one outing on Saturday was to the Italian deli down the hill from us for some grocery shopping. I cannot stress enough how great this place is. It’s the first deli counter I have seen that didn’t make me consider becoming a vegetarian. I am picky about my sandwiches. We picked up a bunch of stuff for lunches for the week as well as a few specialty items we’d both been missing.
We had our inaugural braai on Saturday night with Kip as the Grill Master. After some YouTubing, he grilled the perfect lamb chops for us to enjoy. We’ll braai as much as possible before the weather turns because as you know, “winter is coming.”

We’re a little isolated up here and must either drive (ugh, no) or take an Uber when we want to go out. Thankfully, Ubers are ridiculously affordable and most of our trips are less than $3 USD. For the most part, our Uber experiences here have been great, but we have encountered to occasional driver who cannot drive stick, yet operates a manual vehicle. Living in the hills, this is an unacceptable scenario and we’ve had to get out and walk a couple of times. I guess worse things could happen.
Yesterday, we headed to Constantia, which is about a half hour from city center. We took an Uber ($15 USD!!) to a gorgeous winery called Constantia Glen to meet up with our friends, Karen and Ronan. They are both from Cape Town and have been nice enough to show us the best places around town. As a side note, they were married on the exact same day we were!

The views at Contantia Glen were unbelievable. Sorry to say, but South Africa has California beat in the winelands category.

We don’t have many plans for this week and weekend, but as long as the weather holds out, you can assume we are hanging by the pool.
